Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but mostly humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when, in the second act, the spunky Shelby (who is diabetic) risks pregnancy and forfeits her life. MisCast Cabaret is a three-performance event featuring Depot Theater talent performing songs from roles, in which, they would never be cast. Changing the roles can alter the dynamic or meaning of a song, which creates a new perspective for the audience. The results are sometimes thought-provoking and often hilarious.
