Ben Guhr Bio

Ben was born and raised in Dodge City, KS, to Donald and Deloris Guhr and graduated from DC Senior High in 1984. Upon graduating, Ben joined the United States Marine Corps, departing for Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego California. He was discharged at the end of his service in 1988 and returned to the Dodge City area. After an 8 year break in service, Ben then joined the local Kansas Army National Guard unit, the 250th Maint Co, then renamed the 731st Medium Truck Company. In 2002, he began his Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) duty till 2004, when he began his first deployment to Iraq with the 778th Combat HET, returning in 2006, then again later that year he began his second deployment with the 731st SECFOR as a 50 Cal gunner providing convoy escort in and around Iraq, returning to Dodge in 2008. Ben then started his next deployment in 2011 to The Horn of Africa with Charlie Battery 1-161 Field Artillery out of Newton, KS, returning in 2012. Ben spent a total of 33 years, with 24 years being active duty before retiring in February 2023.

Ben is married to Tina Guhr and has three daughters, and four grandkids, all residing in Dodge City, which he gets to spend an abundance of quality time with, attending baseball games, cheerleading and go-cart racing.

Ben started his stage career during the production of Young Frankenstein, The Musical, at the bequest of director Cary Droste, and has since then become the Shop Manager, building set and props, worked as a stagehand and acted in several stage productions before becoming a member of the Depot Board of Directors.
