My name is Shannon Benish and I have been a lifetime resident of Dodge City. I have been in the financial services industry since 1997 and in 2019 I joined the United Capital Management family as a financial advisor.
I earned the designation of Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™ (FPQP™) and I also hold FINRA Series 7, 63 and 66 security registrations. I am committed to developing long-term relationships with all of my clients. I was born and raised in Southwest Kansas, and I feel that my dedication to family and meaningful work are the result of my tight-knit family upbringing.
I graduated from Dodge City Community College and Fort Hays State University. In 2011, I married John Benish and have three beautiful children, Erin, Evan, and Sydney. After my daughter Erin battled pediatric cancer in 2013, I wrote the book “How to Help Someone with Cancer”. It was on the Amazon bestseller list and the book became a finalist in the National Indie Excellence Awards. My passion is advocating for pediatric cancer patients and development of new treatment options.
My first experience with the Depot Theater were the productions “A Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas” and “The Miracle Worker”. I was in awe of both the talent on stage as well as behind the scenes to put on such productions. I would like to serve on the Board of the Depot Theater to help bring in new people that have not yet experienced the theater and what it has to offer. I feel we have a rich history in Dodge City and the Depot is one of many grand buildings that should be promoted to attract tourism as well. This may be a challenging transition time for the theater, but I feel as though we have community support, and I would be honored to help in any way possible.
